At some point in my life someone told me I should be a singer. I laughed at them. A singer indeed!
Not long after that I stopped laughing and started singing. I can't really remember why... probably peer pressure. I'm glad that I did though, because it has led to many happy memories, and an awful lot of fun :)
I started off singing in a rock band, which I am still with (that's 17 years and counting!), and soon started branching out into different projects - funk, punk, rockabilly, 60's pop, blah blah blah... and was eventually approached to sing with a well established soul & motown function band. Any vocalist worth their salt would give their right arm to sing this stuff, although glady they have let me do it with all my apendages intact... so far.
After 3 years, for reasons that don't need going into, the band experienced a shift in management, and a name change, and has since grown to be a much stronger, happier unit.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of performing at Glastonbury (way back in '97 when it was still about more than just the headline act), worked with some well respected producers and musicians, such as Johny Burns (Jethro Tull / Rush / The Rolling Stones), Mat Laws (Binary Finary), Mark Harman (Restless), Alan Wilson (The Sharks), and have supported such artists as Wishbone Ash, Geno Washington, The Rolling Clones, Matchbox, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys (yes that's their real name) and a few more that escape me right now, but were damn good fun at the time!
This band is full of very talented artists that are a pleasure to work with... and THAT is a rare thing people.
On top of shouting at people through a PA in this band, the rock band, and a Frank Zappa cover band, I also like to indulge in some graphic design, write original songs that rarely see the light of day (which is good because I don't generally deal too well with sunlight), am a proud daddy (of three... so far), and run my own pub. Life is far too short for wasting :)
Music is a world within itself... it's a language we all understand...
Be seeing you.
